Row Club Arrives at West Lakes: Try It Free
Try Row Club free at West Lakes: a fun, full-body indoor rowing class for all fitness levels. Book your spot and experience energising, coach-led workouts.

There is a rowing machine in the corner of your gym, and it is probably empty. Not because it doesn’t work. It is one of the most effective full-body workouts in the building. It sits empty because nobody ever sat down beside you and showed you what to do with it.
West Lakes is about to fix that. Row Club, an instructor-led indoor rowing class, is launching at West Lakes with a free trial period across April and May. The classes run for 45 minutes, they are coached from the first stroke, and they are built for everyone from first-timers to seasoned athletes. No rowing experience needed. Sit, strap, push, pull, see your number.
What a class actually feels like
Think of the energy of a spin class, moved onto the rower. Coach Celia Cowan leads every session through structured intervals, with technique cues as you go and performance tracking on the screen in front of you, all run on Rowing Australia’s Row Nation platform. The workout is full-body and low-impact, so it asks a lot of your muscles and very little of your joints. And you never have to guess whether you’re working hard enough. The number tells you.
“Row Club is designed to be inclusive, energising and community-focused,” says Cowan. “You don’t need rowing experience, just a willingness to give it a go.”
The free trial dates
The trial runs across six dates in April and May, with morning and evening options:
- 10 April: morning
- 17 April: morning
- 22 April: evening
- 24 April: morning
- 29 April: evening
- 1 May: evening
Classes run at 100 Military Road, West Lakes Shore SA 5020. Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.
Pick the date that fits, bring a mate if that makes it easier, and give it one 45-minute session. That is the whole ask.
That empty rower in the corner was never the machine’s fault. It was waiting for someone to hand you the instructions. Forty-five minutes from your first stroke, you could be the person in the gym who knows exactly what to do with it.

If there's a Concept2, there's a start line
You don't need a boat, a river or a club to race. Every RowErg on earth is the same start line, and Australia races on it.

Dance class. Olympic podium. Your gym floor.
Jack Cleary's rowing story started with a knee injury that ended his dancing career at thirteen. The RowErg gave him back control and freedom long before it gave him an Olympic podium. That's why he's on the gym floor for Row Nation's Foundations workshops now.
